  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare an 8×8 inch baking dish by lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the sugar, corn syrup, and salt, stirring until combined.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly.
  5. Once boiling, reduce the heat and add the sweetened condensed milk.
  6. Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the mixture reaches a soft ball stage (about 240°F or 115°C).
  7. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  8. Pour the caramel into the prepared baking dish and let it cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, cut into squares and wrap in wax paper.
