A classic Southern treat, these Old-Fashioned Pecan Pralines are sweet, crunchy, and irresistibly delicious.

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine granulated sugar, brown sugar, heavy cream, and butter.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture comes to a boil.
  3. Continue boiling without stirring for about 5 minutes, or until the mixture reaches the soft ball stage (238°F).
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the pecans and vanilla extract.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto wax paper and let cool until set.

Notes

  • Make sure to use a candy thermometer for accurate results.
  • Store pralines in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
