- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, butter, salt, baking powder, and vanilla extract until crumbly.
- Press half of the mixture into the bottom of a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In another bowl, mix cherry pie filling with cornstarch and lemon juice.
- Spread the cherry mixture over the crust in the baking dish.
- Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the cherry filling.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
- Allow to cool before cutting into bars.
Notes
- For a more intense cherry flavor, consider adding fresh cherries.
- These bars can be served warm or cold.
